2023.07.12Samyang's Nexweet® Allulose Receives SA-GRAS, Expanding its Application to New Food Categories.
Samyang has recently obtained Self-Affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe (SA-GRAS) for the Nexweet® Allulose. It paves the way for the allulose's expanded use in various food categories, adding a new dimension of taste and health to a wide range of products.
SA-GRAS is a rigorous process undertaken by the food industry to ensure the safety of food ingredients. It involves thorough evaluation and assessment by expert panels, which conclude that the ingredient is safe for consumption based on available scientific data and usage history. The Nexweet® Allulose from Samyang successfully met these stringent safety standards, allowing it to receive the esteemed SA-GRAS.
Prior to this recent SA-GRAS, Samyang has already obtained GRAS (GRN 828) for utilizing allulose made from non-GMO Microbacterium foliorum in 17 different food categories. These categories included popular food items such as bakery products, beverages, cereals, confections, sauces, and more.
With the newly SA-GRAS, the Samyang's Nexweet® Allulose can now be utilized in 7 additional food categories such as alcoholic beverages, cereals (RTE, < 5% added sugar), coffee mix, cookies, grain based cereal bars/protein bars, carbonated beverages (low calories), gummies. The inclusion of these new categories opens up exciting opportunities for Samyang to bring allulose solutions to a broader range of products, catering to a wider audience.
