Samyang Corporation participates in the first exhibition at the U.S. Natural Products Expo West (NPEW), accelerating overseas expansion.

Samyang Corporation participated in a natural product exhibition held in the United States to promote the excellence of specialty (high-functional) food ingredients and expand overseas sales channels.


Samyang Corporation (President Choi Nak-hyun) announced that it participated in the '2024 Natural Products Expo West (NPEW)' held in Anaheim, California, USA, from the 14th to the 16th of last month, to explore customers and operate a promotional booth.


NPEW is the largest natural food exhibition in the United States, with over 60,000 buyers from approximately 130 countries and more than 3,000 food and beverage companies worldwide participating. Samyang Corporation participated in this exhibition for the first time to increase contact with potential customers producing products with vegan, organic, and health functionality concepts.


Samyang Corporation operated a promotional booth introducing zero-calorie substitute sweetener 'allulose' and health functional food ingredient 'resistant dextrin'. At the booth, samples of protein bars and gummies using both ingredients were provided, along with brochures explaining the characteristics of both ingredients, helping visitors understand them better.


Allulose is a substitute sweetener that tastes about 70% as sweet as sugar, with similar sweetness and properties to sucrose, widely used in beverages, snacks, dairy products, sauces, etc. Samyang Corporation succeeded in mass-producing allulose with its own enzyme technology developed in 2016 and began full-scale production in 2020. Subsequently, in the same year, it obtained the 'Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS)' certification from the U.S. FDA and launched a brand called 'Nexweet' to pave the way for overseas market expansion.


Resistant dextrin is a soluble dietary fiber with a dietary fiber content of over 85%, used as a health functional food ingredient that can help with △ improves bowel regularity △ supports healthy blood glucose levels △lowers serum triglyceride level. Samyang Corporation introduced the 'Fiberest' brand in 2021 and is pursuing prebiotics business by producing liquid and powder forms of resistant dextrin.


To increase promotional effects, Samyang Corporation participated in the 'The Southern California IFT Suppliers Night Expo' held in the same region on the 12th, just before the NPEW. At this exhibition organized by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), Samyang Corporation met with potential customers such as distribution/food mid-sized companies to promote specialty ingredients and encourage visits to the NPEW booth, leading to substantial business results.


Lee Sang-hoon, head of Samyang Corporation's Food Business Unit, said, "As a result of actively conducting marketing while visiting customer booths, we were able to secure more business opportunities and potential customers." He added, "In the future, by participating in various overseas food exhibitions, we will establish ourselves as a company that understands the needs of customers and provides more sophisticated tailored solutions."


Meanwhile, Samyang Corporation actively participates in food-related exhibitions held overseas this year to accelerate its entry into the global market. They plan to participate in the International Food Ingredients Exhibition 'IFIA 2024' in Japan in May and 'IFT 2024' in the United States in July.
